9pm Paintings
These abstractions are about the pleasure and wildness of paint. Each painting is made with acrylic and gouache on panel, and each one offers its own path and map that leads to the next painting.
They are about the materials and colors in relationship to each other. Sometimes they incorporate collage elements such as peeled paint skins and an accretion of paint crumbs, strings, rhinestones and beads. They are very immediate and connected to the gut and heart. They reference bodily processes and the rhythms of nature in their juxtaposition of tangle and order, transparent and opaque and saturation and emptiness.
Some of their titles are inspired by the language of poetry and the ethereal verses which best represent the unnamable qualities of this abstracted world.
