Before and After the Loss of Music
These paintings are external depictions of inner life; the dreamy images- water, wind, ooze and sky are drawn from gut, eye and spirit. This body of work was produced at the same time as the poetry comic: The Concrete River. The Concrete River is a collaboration between Sasha Kopelowitz and the poet Luis R. Rodriguez. Both the paintings and the comic capture some of the unpredictable associations of poetry and music that lie in the unregulated areas of the mind.
